Brad Pitt as Architectural Consultant
While most media interest is in the growing size of Brad Pitt's family, he has recently been announced as being a part of the consulting team for a new environmentally friendly 800-room hotel and resort in Dubai. Architectural firm GRAFT based in LA have been hired to oversee the project by developers Zabeel. Zabeel chief executive Robert Norton said of the proposal;
"This project will display our uncompromising focus and commitment for developing high quality and environmentally sustainable real estate in this region."
Pitt is said to be a major fan of Frank Llyod Wright, and has said;
"Whilst acting is my career, architecture is my passion."
He is also involved in building affordable and environmentally-friendly homes in New Orleans, in cooperation with Global Green and the Home Depot Foundation. Dubai is one of the fastest growing cities with phenomenal growth in the last 15 years, which has further concentrated since foreigners were allowed to invest in property in 2002. Brad and Angelina reportedly bought their own island in 2007 with a view to turning it into a showpiece for environmental issues. The island is in the shape of Ethiopia, and is a part of a luxury development of 300 man-made islands shaped like a world map, off the coast of Dubai.
